Debate: Where are all the women?
When was the last time you saw a back page headline dedicated to a sportswoman? The two who probably spring to mind are Paula Radcliffe and Christine Ohuruogu. Both are champions in their own right and have suffered their share of abuse in the press-one for an Olympic failure that will haunt her forever, and the other for neglecting her promise to be in a specific place at a specific time, each and every day of the week. And that criticism is fair enough-why should they be treated any differently to the sportsmen whose ups and downs are critiqued in minute detail on a daily basis?
